World War II & Air Force Memorials

Candy and Blair joined Dad and John on the bus to the memorials. One of the stops was the World War II Memorial, which featured 56 granite columns representing the 48 states, seven territories and the District of Columbia. The columns form a semi-circle around the memorial’s plaza, with two arches on opposite sides. The northern arch represents victory in the Atlantic; the southern arch symbolizes victory in the Pacific.

We had lunch on the grounds of the Air Force Memorial, where three stainless steel spires tower over Arlington, reaching heights of 402 feet above sea level.
