The pre-flight meeting April 22 included introductions of volunteers and veterans and a brief summary of what the day in Washington, D.C., would involve.
Veterans and their guardians — each vet had a person responsible for staying with them all day — gathered at the airport at 6:30 a.m. May 3 for the welcoming, opening ceremonies, send off, breakfast at the gate and boarding.
